What is a Bayer Grower Trait License?

. A Grower Trait License or GTL is a signed contract between BCS and the purchaser that
outlining the terms and conditions for seed containing Bayer CropScience technologies and
traits

Who needs a GTL?
|
. A GTL is assigned to an individual, who can act on behalf of a company(ies), entity(ies),
or farms(s). Both incorporated and unincorporated, as identified by the executed GTL
agreement. A GTL is required by all purchasers and users of LibertyLink canola, cotton,
soybeans and Glytol cotton.

What are the Seed Companies Responsibilities?
|
. The Seed Company is required to and warrants that it will have a GTL executed by each grower
prior to shipment of seed or distribution of test plot, replant or promotional seed to any grower.

Does a Grower have to apply every year for a license?
|
. No the license is evergreen. An updated trait and technology manual will be mailed each year
along with an annually updated Grower Trait license card.
|

Is a GTL transferrable?
|
. No, it is not transferrable. Those who wish to transfer a GTL must apply for a new one under
the new owner’s name.

|
Who can apply for a Grower to obtain a license?
|
. The grower or the seed company or retailer can apply on behalf of the grower, but the application
must be signed by the grower.
|
|
What are the responsibilities of a license holder?
|
. To use Seed solely for planting a single commercial crop and to refrain from using such Seed for
any research purposes or to engage in any type of reverse engineering of the technology
contained in this Seed.
. To acquire Seed containing Bayer technology or traits only from a seed company licensed by
Bayer for such technology or trait or from its authorized dealer.
. Not to save any seed or other propagating material produced from Seed for planting and not to
supply same to anyone for planting.
. To read and follow the Bayer Trait and Technology Use Manual.
. To allow Bayer to use the Grower's name and information for the purpose of providing Grower
with marketing programs, promotional materials, and product and other related information.

How long does it take to get the license once applied for?
|
. You will be notified electronically within 2 weeks. It takes about 4-6 weeks after applying to
receive the Grower Trait License card and Trait and Technology manual.

What crops require a GTL?
|
|
. LibertyLink canola, cotton, soybeans and Glytol Cotton require a GTL.
|
